550 oliver pto clutch

i have the 550 oliver ready to disasemble the pto clutch what do i need to do to take it apart and remove it.can i do it with out removing the top plate over the transmission. thanks larry mr. sweibert i didn't recieve the email you sent my email is [email protected]

You don't have to take the transmission cover off, but you do need to "Z" split the tractor. The only special tool you will need will be the spanner nut wrench to remove the pto clutch assembly. I made mine out of pipe. I highly suggest you get a hold of a shop manual. You could get by with the IT manual, the reproduction Oliver manuals cover a lot of tractors and are pricey, but worth it.
