I have a 1550 Oliver Diesel that sat for a while now will not start. I have plenty of fuel in the injection pump, but when I am trying to bleed the air out of the system I have no fuel pressure... even at at the pump. Fuel only runs out by gavity.. I have made sure the fuel shut is not stuck, everthing is clean etc.. While cranking should I be getting some fuel pressure? Its acting like the injector pump is not pumping anything to the injectors. Before condeming the injection pump is their something else I can check? I am not getting any fuel to the injectors. Thanks Vic

How long has it been since engine last ran? I see more pumps that fail after setting awhile that need a complete teardown and cleaning when the plungers, metering and delivery valves stick with stale fuel, especially if bio fuel is used.

Yes. No fuel pressure anywhere... not even a drip. Everything is clean, and I have plenty of fuel that shows up in the return lines, but none in the main injector lines. Pump shart is ok, I checked all timinig and injection pump marks and they are all good... I had it running last year, and it was running great. just shut it off and stored in the barn, a year later no go..

maybe check tank and see if there is a blockage i wouldnt think your pump would have gummed up in that amount of time check filters and try to get fuel to them first if you cant get fuel to the filters youll never get it at the pump or injectors how cold is it maybe your fuel is gelled or has water in it hope this helps keep me posted

On the first fuel filter the line going out of the filter to the second check that fitting. All it is is a rubber grommet that seals around the line with a brass nut to snug it up to the filter housing. If its old and coming apart it will suck air and wont let the engine start. I had the same problem with my 1550 diesel this spring and thought my pump was bad. It turned out to be that little rubber grommet. I replaced mine with a hose barb fitting and a short piece of fuel hose and it has run this good in several years. Also keep more than a half a tank of fuel in at all times, It really helps with the gravity feed system in the 1550. I hope this helps you out. Bandit

I see this VERY often in my pump shop. The new ultra low sulfur diesel, and even worse biofuel or home brew veggie oil will lock up pumps that sit for a extended time. Very common, but still a pain in the shorts. Pull the pump off and have a pump shop clean and reseal it. Should cost about $350.00 plus stand time. I would be glad to help you if interested. 231/757/0064
