880 hydraulic unit on an 88

Trying to help a friend out. His 88 system has problems and he has access to a complete assembly out of an 880. Will it work? He uses the tractor with loader this time of year so if I could let him know soon it would be a big help.

He could also use the newer unit and set it up to run the loader from the power beyond feature using a valve that has feathering feature.
