1550 under the hood muffler

Guys I figured that I would try to put this 1550 back like it was new or close to it. the muffler that is on it is not bad but its not the right one for a 1550 diesel utility. In the Oliver parts book the muffler is part # 160-907-A and no one seams to be able to cross it over to any thing any ware. The hood has been cut out to put the strait through muffler on it and I can weld this butchered up hole back up for the under the hood muffler to go back on. So the question is dose anyone out there know ware to get one of these under the hood mufflers for a 1550 diesel? Oh The ones for an 88 diesel wont work according to the Oliver dealership guys. Bandit, If you don't mind it being a little loud you can make a can with inlet and outlet flanges and come out the original hole. That's what I did on my 77. Just a thought, Chuck

Bandit,
I had the same problem. I took a muffler for an 88 gas and took it to the muffler shop and had the inlet expanded some to fit the exhaust pipe from the manifold. I then had a pipe made that fit the outlet, and up through the hole. This pipe is smaller than probably normal, but it works pretty decently.

It looks like I might just have to make one for it. I wish I knew what the inside of one of those mufflers looked like, I think I could fab the shell and ends up but I don't know what to use on the inside. I guess it will be trial and error. Bandit
