have 1650 w/ allied 595 loader which is quite heavy so i have 16 inch tires on front. use unit for daily chore tractor for baleage and dry hay. last year i broke steering shaft in steering cylinder under radiator. just broke steering arm. i have previously shortenened turning radius with stops on axle. i noticed there was stress by steering arm from before i owned it. in winter, sometimes i drive slowly with a bale in rutts. this is hard on tires, tie rods and steering arm. i am evaluating putting after market (a & i) hex shaft and steering arm. has anyone done this and did it solve breaking problems ? is it more reliable.

Our big problem causing those failures of the steering shaft and arm that attaches to it was the bolt that clamps the arm would stretch and would cause failures. They went with a better grade bolt and it pays to check them to see if they stay tight.

The last one I got from A&I was made different from the one I had gotten from them before. Seemed to be heavier and was steel instead of cast. A whole lot better arm.
