oliver 1655 diesel blowing oil out exhaust.

I have an Oliver 1800 with a 1655 diesel engine in it and last weekend I was trying to start it and never would so I had to pull it off and I finally got it to start and when I was letting it warm up I noticed oil was coming out the exhaust. So today I pulled the in injectors out to go get them tested and I also took the exhaust manifold off and the #4 exhaust port was full of oil. Anyone know what"s going on? Thanks!

If the injector test good you may have a Bad valve seal or broken piston rings on that hole

Maybe a stuck exhaust valve on that cylinder. Take the valve cover off and see if that valve is down part way and won't come up.

You will likely regret not pulling the exhaust manifold and just replacing that one duff injector.

That would likely be my first guess, but I would also be looking at the valve gear for that cylinder if my pop tester showed the injector as good - well not stuck open or just jetting.

It could be a non-opening inlet valve. Compression can be roughly checked by turning the engine slowly - a dead pot would be easy to spot, particularly knowing when to expect it.

Another non-invasive test would be a compression check on that cylinder.

All better alternatives to pulling it to pieces to find the fault.

Anyhow the deed is done. If the injectors prove OK, the first place I would be checking is the inlet tappet on that cylinder.
