just bought a 88 lp, was looking in the it shop manual, it listed the compression ratio as 6.75-1, the same as a gasser. I always thought the lps were around 9-1 comp. ratio? what is the optimum ratio for a lp engine? also whats the easyist way to fill the tank, hand pump, syphon, or what?

If you purchased the one you asked about some time back it was converted to LP. The L P engines made a change in heads Including compression ratio and manifolds with the introduction of the 1800's. How hard are you going to work this tractor?

The commercial guys that delivered LP used a pump to transfer from truck to a farmers storage tank.  You don't need a pump, they used it to speed up the transfer.  The storage tank will always have pressure from the liquid changing to vapor within the tank, higher as the temperature rises.  So you attach the hose from storage tank to tractor tank, open the valves and open the bleeder valve on the tractor.  Now you have high pressure in the storage tank and lower pressure in tractor tank.   LP flows like anything else, high pressure to low pressure.

J: at this point im just checking my options. are you suggesting that 1800 head would raise the compression ratio to what? will it fit, along with the manifoldsto raise the overall hp? to what?
