I had a bigger tractor on the chopper but it broke down so I stuck the 1800 on it to keep moving. Slow going for sure! First gear with the hydropower pulled out for most of it but she got the snot worked out of her and just kept ticking them off. Gotta love four digit Olivers.

Well thank you because I had some strange things going on
with her last year and I posted here and you gave some good
advice. As for the lights, this tractor has a cab with it but I took
it off to take off the hood and stuff to change wrist pin bushings
and I haven't put it back on yet. Any way the original owner
bought two of these with cabs and only used them to plow
snow in parking lots with front mounted snowplows thier
whole life. The light brackets he put on to help see better with
the big plows on the front.

What kind of chopper you using? looks like it's cut a little long/jagged.

Other wise it looks good

It's a 770 new holland chopper. Here's another pic of it.
Sometimes when the corn is heavy and the horsepower is light
I think the throat dosent stay full and cut is compromised a bit.
Still the bagger packs it well and the cows like it and milk well
on it so its all good.

I bet the gas wasnt real torquy. I worked for a dairy farmer he had a 1800 diesel and all it ever did was run sileage blower, didnt do bad.

What kind of gas consumption did that thing get while chopping?

We use a NH 892 that we picked up last year behind our 1855. Works really well for us. I just put a new shear bar in it this year and spaced it out to only have 8 knives in the head, instead of 12. We replaced a Fox 3000, that no matter what I did I couldn't get it to cut haylage very short. So far no problems with the 892, but we'll see how good it worked when Dad opens up the bag of 1st crop from this year

Is your head an 822? How do you like it? We've only got an 880 head on ours but it still works pretty good for us. Just wish we had a narrow head instead of a wide, because we plant on 32" rows.

I sent you a reply but it never went through. Cliff notes is 10 gallons of gas chopped 7 big loads so somewhere around 1.5 gal per load. I've heard horror story's about 3020 and 4020 gas tractors and it wasn't near as bad.

Our 1600 gas usually runs the blower. Not sure how it does gallons/hour wise, but it's not too awfully bad.

I sent you a reply also but didn't go through. Here goes again. Yes a c, 1964. That six cylender sure sounds nice. I bought a allis chalmers 7000 a few months ago and was going to use that but had some problems with it. Nice pics on your post, thanks.
