550 won't start, clicking on starter?

I had been using the 550 recently, ran good, started good.

I tried to start it today, only heard the "clicking" sound. Battery is good, I know that. Is it the gadget that sits on the starter with the 2 terminals that's acting up most likely?

Hope it's replaceable.

Spend $20.00 and get a multimeter. Check the voltage at the battery and then have someone hold the leads down at the starter. One on the connection whrer thecables attach the other one to a good ground. Have someelse try to start it and see what your voltage goes to.If the tractor still has a generator it should still be POSITIVE ground. Then report back here.

Give the solenoid (yes, the gadget on top of the starter) a sharp tap with a wrench. They 'stick' sometimes and a sharp tap can get it working — not too hard though as you can dent it or worse, you can ground it if you bent the copper ground connection.
