serial numbers

Probably. Since in this case, 157 841 was the starting S/N for 1550's. if had been more of a spread, you couldn't be sure since all models were serialized together. Xxx xx1 might be a 1850 and xxx xx2 could be a 1650. But I think they were usually in bunches. Others will chime in, hopefully.

you are correct.number one was in missouri and number two was in wisconsin, or vice versa. they have been listed on tractor house in the past.

Im in wisc bought it at mineral point the part that has me puzzled was the 3 extra numbers on the end .it reads 157 842 502 thats the odd part but i like it . it needs work but has some interesting features 3 pt is not the quick hitch but the same as the other makes looked in book and it is oliver .also has high speed transmission got cousin who likes ih hmm nice thought pull out and pass going down the road whens the next drive its going to be fun !!thanks for all the help its nice to have the tractor but the info is icing on the cake.the dealer sticker shows that it was originally sold in vinton iowa thanks again larry

502 are the nubers for the transission set up. Those 3 point arms were available. I know we got a few tractors with those on by mistake.

Thanks solved that mystrey the books dont say anything about the last 4 numbers.the three point doesnt have the quick tach was surprised to see that was it an option or standard feature ? also has idiot lights above fuses normal or add on ? Thanks again i love this kind of info its sad how much knoweldge we loose when peoples memorys fade

the first 1550's had amp and oil red lights just like the 1600's the gauges were fuel, temp.,and the speedotach.

Like RP said gauges came on the later ones. There were a lot of options for the 1550 models from dry air cleaners to pan type seats More questions post a phone number. J.
