I recently replaced a clutch in my oliver 1800a.
everything went well, except I cant get the pto long-shaft to to go all the way back in. I need just another inch to get the cover back on. any hints or suggestions?

Have you tried turning it a little, then bump it? Another thing you might try is to release the clutch, then turn the shaft and try it. Might not be exactly centered.

I do a couple of things.

Mostly I just grab a stool and a cup of coffee and start turning the shaft a few degrees at a time with slight pressure applied. Just when you think this is a stupid idea, the shaft slides easily in place.

The other method I have used is file some approach ramps on the leading edge of the pump and flywheel splines. Seems to help a lot.

Good luck, sometimes it takes awhile.
