Older gentleman in our area is 85, selling off some of his equip.

One is a 1655 diesel. Had 4500hrs. Been sitting, relatively unused for a while. Fresh fuel, though, Cranked right up, sounded strong. Smoked a little. Had new rear tires, wheel weights. Mechanically sound, but what you would expect for a 4500hr tractor( leaking pto seal, leaking hyd, ect). COmplete 3pt. Sheet metal we pretty straight, and still had most of the original paint and warning labels. Old man is not trying to get top $$ for either, said make him an offer.

The 2nd, is, what appears, to be a 2 62 Industrial. Odd duck to me. Had a gas engine, and 3pt. Said it runs, but has carb problems. Im not familiar with this model.

Thoughts? I see 1655s close to this one going for at least $4500, which seems a bit high. Are they holding their value better than I thought?
What should I do??

(quoted from post at 13:08:58 09/07/13) Did you get a serial number for those 2? Your 2-62 is a 1550 or 1555 industrial

I didn't. Idiot, I know.

Are you saying the 2 62 is just a 1550/55 IND?
I couldn't find any info online regarding the 2 62. There was a little bit of the hood decal left, and that's what It said.

I could be interested in the 2-62 if he's wanting to sell it and you
aren't interested in it. I'm pretty much ate up with the 1550/55
series of tractors! Looks like it would be a neat project.

I'd offer him 3K for the pair. the diesel is a bonus on the 1655 but its by no means a rare tractor and it will take some money to fix the leaks and do it right. As others mentioned the
2-62 is an industrial version of a 1550/1555. Not too many made but there is not much demand for them.

Im going to offer him 2k for the 1655,mostly because i have no use for it at all.

Still, looking on external_link.com, the cheapest i am seeing a 1655 go for is about 5k,and thats with 11,000hrs.

End game is to clean up the 1655,fix a few things and sell it. Use funds to finance a S88.

If you happen to offer to buy them both, let me know what you
might want for the 2-62. My daughter and son in law live in
Jackson, MS. It's not that far...

(quoted from post at 14:39:03 09/08/13) @ 2k seems like you are trying to short an old man. Shame.
h boo hoo.

Im not trying to "short" him. I dont need either of them. That in mind, why would i want to pay top $ for one?

If that were the case, id have already been looking for a 1655,right?
I was/am not in the market for either. Just presented with the opportunity.

Also,he said "just make me an offer, im not trying to get a ton for them, i just want them gone"

He is 85,and very wealthy. So, dont give me any guff about trying to get over on anyone.

I bought an 1800 A for $500 incl delivery(is in better shape than that 1655)
i would offer $250 for that 2-62.
