Clutch Removal or un sticking

I have an Oliver 70 #4012304C72 Industrial that has a stuck clutch ( sat for 2 + years),. With the bell housing cover off the clutch is visible. Is it possible to loosen the pressure plate and loosen the clutch with a thin piece of metal and brake cleaner? I understand on some of the 70 models the clutch cam be removed with out splitting the motor. I have been having a lot of fun working on this project and am sure I'll get another one to work on someday... thanks for any input.

You do not split the tractor toput a clutch in. Have you tried to hold the cluch petal down and hooking a good log chain to a large tree and then put the tractor in first gear and see if it willbreak loose?

Yes I tied it to a tree and just let it dig in. I drove around through some rough ground. Today I removed the hood and gas tank backed off the pressure plate 1/2" took a 2 foot wood square and sharpened one side and pushed it down on both sides of the clutch. I could see it was loose I tightened down the pressure plate and tried to turn the engine in gear and it was still holding. I thought it might ba an easy fix.

Check out the last issue of Antique Power. There is an article in there about unsticking a clutch using a cake knife if I remember correctly. I think he mentions not to chain it and run it. Just sayin'.

Too bad you couldn't find a two-bottom plow and go plowing with it (with the clutch in) until it came loose.

even if the clutch disc is loose the flywheel and pressure plate can be rusty to make it hold yet when i restored my 77 the flywheel had minor surface rust on it, didn't think it was that bad but it held enough i couldn't get in gear till i shut the tractor off could be fighting your pilot bushing as well, how much clutch pedal free play you have? i forget how the 70s are set up but could you adjust your linkage so the pressure plate can release more?

I just decieded to go ahead and pull the clutch pressure plate and fly wheel out. I believe it a 3/4" free play in the clutch. Thanks for the help
and I will make sure all rust is gone.
