Oliver 1850 Rockshaft Seals

I have oil leaking out the left rockshaft on the hydraulic where the upper arms of the 3 pt. attach on my 1850. I looked up and found part 107744A as the seal for that and crossed it to a Timken 415960 from the parts store. Is this seal replaceable from the outside - ie remove fender, remove snap ring and upper arm from shaft, and then pull the seal and install the new one? Just thought I would check and see who has done one before I tear into it. Thanks!

Ha, well, like anything, it could go way easy or it could be a pain. The main thing is if your lift arm is loose on the rock shaft. If it is, you are golden. I've had a few that are rusted on and then you are in for a heck of a fight. Also, take great care in driving the seal in straight. If you can, fashion a driver made from pipe to help drive it in evenly.

Just did mine. Got the seal from an O"Reilleys auto parts store. Easy cross reference. No need to remove the fender. I was lucky I guess. Popped the snap ring and the are arm slid right off. Popped the old seal out, new seal in. Ten minute job.
