The alternator on our 1655 is putting out 16.5 volts at 1000RPM and above. It has an external regulator which we replaced with a new one from Agco. Could problem be in alternator itself or where else could trouble be? Wiring is all original and good condition. Appreciate any help, thanks. Needle on guage pegs out to right, just starting doing that.

hard to find a good quality external regulator anymore, I eliminate them and put on an internally regulated 10SI Delco.

Did you have the cover off of the first regulator? They are simple to adjust. They are a single unit regulator. You may also want to check your field circuit
