Replacement starter '51 Cockshutt 40

The father-not-law has asked for my help in finding him a replacement starter for his 1951 Cockshutt 40 gas as he hasn't had any luck locally. Got a used one and it turned out to be a dud. He took on the restoration a couple years ago and this is pretty much the last component.

Tried with YT but they have no listing's :(

Is there maybe something else that will interchange?

Any help would be an asset at this point.

Thanks!

It seems a good rebuilder could fix it up?

Well this seems to be a difficiency around my area. I'd be willing to take some recommendations of any recommended rebuilder considering I willing to ship it out. Not time sensitive at this point in time. I'm in Canada but travel across the border often.

I just read that you're from Canada.
Look on that link for Wilson Electric and write down the cross references, then phone Gerry's Industrial in Guelph (519-824-4611) and ask for Steve 'the-starter-guy'. He is very good at hunting down oddball units.

Email me for more info.

Well I called Wilson Electric and got the same story. No stock nor availability

I'll try and give Steve a call shortly.

I couldn't find your email address in your profile (maybe cause I'm too newly registered with the forums?). Maybe you can send it to me via PM as I can't send those either yet.

Steve gave me some info for big tractor wrecker's (Fawcett's and Watson's Farm Equipment & Tractor Parts).

Have to take some pictures and email it with some dimensions it seems for them to make the match?

(quoted from post at 15:25:59 07/02/13) The bottom right corner of each message box has a link "Send Email" or "No Email". Just click on "Send Email"

I only see "No Email" in classic view?

send me an email, I am coming to Athens show in a few weeks maybe I can find you something and bring it with me. Irv

(quoted from post at 07:14:54 07/03/13) MH 44 & 44 special has same starter but the battery post is in a difference location.

Now this sounds feasible if I can find one of these!

(quoted from post at 13:28:38 07/03/13) Hi SheeB,

I have used 40/50 gas starters on stock here.

We will be in Ontario, CANADA soon!
