I was thinking of using the wheel lift on my wrecker and a block of wood. I see you can lift your tractor wheels with this setup!

i've used this method for long time only with skid loader, but finally broke down and bought a bead breaker bar so i can do tires in the winter

I just got done changing one on the Super 55. The outside broke down by itself just driving it in to the shop. I changed it on the tractor so couldn't get that creative. The inside was a BEAST to break loose. I used a sledge hammer, two wood wedges and a tire bead breaker. It FINALLY came loose.

I think I stick with my homemade slide hammer.
I had only once a tire that I could not break loose with it cause of rust buildup on the rim.

Even the dozer blade could not budge it, it sliced the sidewall clean from the heel

Never took pictures but have used a dozer a few times as well as the backhoe.

I just last week used the forklift to pick up a rear tire and used a 50 ton press. I have used the forks to break the bead with a tire standing up by driving into it.

Always seems there is something to use that does not take strain on the old body to break them down.

That is a very good way to break the bead wires in a good tire, had a guy do that, after he put the tire back on, it blew off the rim and broke his arm in 3 places. He then called me to fix his tire, he didn't want to hear the fact that he had destroyed a perfectly good tire.

What"s wrong with doing the job right? Just spend the $200 and buy a bead breaker. Then you can break them on the tractor like a professional. Two tires changed and you are ahead of the tire service truck.

As soon as they really resist you grab a plank to put under the blade. I had to use a chunk of a plank on the one last week under the 50 ton press.

Dick L, Mine broke quite easy. There wasn't much rust, I think the tractor was always kept inside. Sure beats doing it by hand. I took the sheet metal to the body shop today, can't wait to get this project done. Thanks for looking, Chuck
