Oliver 770 Hydrualic Pump Flow Rate?

Hey guys, I have a lot of fence line to mow and I found a place that makes a 24 inch mower deck that can either mount on an arm of the front of “most tractors” or can mount off the side of a mower your pulling behind your tractor and is spring loaded for mowing against/around posts and trees. It’s hydraulically driven (10 gallons per minute).

I have a 770 with two sets of remotes one of which I use to operate my “Saginaw” 3 point hitch. The other one is open.

Couple of questions:
1. Will the hydraulic pump on the 770 handle that?
2. If so what is the best way to hook it up?

Since it needs constant flow and the remotes only operate when you move the handle up or down to operate the valves is there a better way to hook something like this up? Any insight would be appreciated, I really don’t feel like walking a couple miles of fence with a weed eater and we don’t want to spray herbicides as we have horses on the pastures.

Now a couple questions for you. The deck needs 10 GPM. Remember flow is speed pressure is torque. What kind of pressure are they talking about in the literature? If I remember correctly that pump is 8 GPM. Also all pumps are rated on theoretical output. So your actual flow will probably be close to 6.5 GPM. Also running a hydraulic motor the oil will get very hot. Not good on that or any other pump. I would go with a separate pump & valve (with a motor spool)and at least a 10 gallon reservoir and run it off the crankshaft. Send me a phone number and we can discuss it in more detail

I agree with J you will need another pump he mentioned a crankshaft driven pump, I thought of a pump driven off the pto if you are not already using it. you could us a pump like some loaders use.

J, I just saw it on a website so I will have to call them for more information.

What you are saying makes sense and I don't think it would run off the Tractor's pump...I think a seperate pump is going to be the way to go if we go for this option. I would prefer not to use the PTO as I would like to be able to use this mower at the same time as I use the flail mower on the back. But if I had to I could do the fences after mowing the rest of the pasture.

J, after I dig for more info I'll give you a holler.
