Replaced the chain coupler this weekend. What fun. Any way, while it was off, it seemed the alignment of the two sprockets were good, but the sprocket on the input to trans shaft was loose. I could slide it forward and back on the shaft close to 3/8of an inch. When the sprocket was up tight to the O/U output sprocket, as is needed to attach chain, I could rotate trans sprocket about 1/8" of a rotation before it grabbed the shaft. If I slid the sprocket back on shaft towards the trans, it was tight, but was then too far away from O/U sprocket. What holds that sprocket tight to the shaft? Will Ineed to replace that trans input shaft? How hard is it do do? I am assuming to change the sprocket if spines wore and shaft or sprocket, I need to remove engine. Could some one walk me thought this? Pics would be really appreciated. Would like to get 1st hay in, and then get the ol girl in the shed and fixed to sure this vibration issue, paint, and sell.
I should add thatthe sprocket on the over under output shaft was tight, no slide, no slop
