Our small town shop always has more tractors in it than cars. 'bout three cars and six tractors usually. Right now my 550 and an 1800 A, plus three or four red ones. Not tune-up jobs either, The checkerboard 1800 has the entire rear-end/trans exposed.

Nope. It's been a number of years since any auto shop dabbled in farm equipment repair locally. There was a fellow years ago that liked a change up from job to job. Work on a VW bug one day and maybe an 806 the next. Guys like that appear to be extinct. Most of the farm tractor dealer mechanics do not like working on older carb/ distributor gas tractors. Most are lost on 1960's vintage stuff like Deere New Generation, 06 series IH, etc.. There is a non-dealer mechanic for each make in the area but only one aside from the Mennonites who will seek one of their own out first if possible.

I am an owner operator of a one man auto repair shop. My primary business is cars and trucks, but I do the odd tractor job here and there. I have had everything from an 07 VW Rabbit to a JD 4430. Currently have a 72 Vette and an old Gehl Hydracat in the shop, among other things.
