1650 Hydraulic Filter Removal

I know this has probably been asked many times before but I cannot get my 1650 hydraulic filter housing to break loose. I"ve tried a breaker bar with a pipe and a pipe wrench with no luck. Does anyone have any suggestions. I know I"m close to breaking the breaker bar. I have no idea how long it has been before the housing was removed before I bought the tractor.

A very large pipe wrench with a pipe extension on the handle or a 3/4" drive socket set is what does the trick.

I had one of those on an 1850. The hex end was getting rounded off from trying with the pipe wrench / cheater pipe. Put it over the round part and it finally broke free. It is heavy cast so I can't imagine it breaking. I use anti seize / never seize on most everything I work on now.

I had the same problem years ago on a 1650. Oddly enough, I gave up and came back a day or two later to try again and it nearly spun off by hand! It turns out that when I gave up, I had parked it facing downhill such that the filter housing was also angled down from level, where it is normally angled up. This may have allowed oil to soak the threads and old o-ring, where it would normally drain back into the reservoir. I did rap the housing lightly with a brass hammer the first day I tried to remove it, that may have helped also.
