550 PTO clutches

Just decided to overhaul the PTO clutch on a 1959 550. All went well until the proceedure called for loosening an Allen screw retaining pto clutch hub drive shaft. The problem is, I can't access this Allen screw. I can see it under the adjustment lock pin but can't get to it. Any advice would certainly be appreciated. Thanks, Harry

Just curious, are you splitting the tractor or working through the bottom inspection hole? You should be able to rotate the hub until you can get to the allen head screws. There could be two of them.

Thanks Super for answering my post.
Yes I have split the tractor and removed the clutch release fork and shaft and the pto clutch actuating fork and shaft, etc. Cant figure out how to access the set screw that holds the hub to the shaft.

This is fairly common---Someone installed the pressure plate in the position & you can"t get a straight shot at the set screw---You will probably have to disassemble the clutch pack while it's in the tractor to gain access---Just pull the long pins out & remove the through out bearing assembly, then unscrew the adjusting nut, then remove the pressure plate,& then you will be able to get to the set screw
