Is it easier to install an 8.3 Cummins into a 2-180 or a 2-155/135? Is there one which has an advantage from the start? Thanks for any input.
 
I have a question and that is if you need 540 pto if you do go with the 135. If not either one will work for it takes about the same amount of work to convert either one. Do you have 180 with a bad engine I would be interested as is, but that too can be converted
 
i believe the 2-180 is geared lower to compensate for the high rpms that the cat runs.I saw a 4-225 that was repowered with an 8.3 and the road speed was only 15 mph with the 8.3 wide open
 
Never thought of that before, but I bet your 100% right, that extra 600 rpms or so would make quiet a difference.
