synthetic oil in 1550 gas

Was wondering if running synthetic motor oil in a 1967 1550 gas is really good or not such a good idea? The engine has 400 hours on it after a complete overhaul. I know for a fact that synthetic oil is tough to beat because of my line of work, but in engines from the 40's - 50's you can foul plugs, because any bypassed oil does not burn off.

I run 15-50 Mobil-1 in my 77 with good results, never fouls a plug and it stays together and I spin it up to 4000rpm when I take it to the tractor pulls. If you want it to last a long long time run a good synthetic oil in it and change it at the regular intervals. Just my thoughts, Chuck
