I found a guy parting out a super55 with a remote cyl valve and mine doesnt have one. What i'm wondering is can you just switch the valve or is there more parts internally that i'll need. Thanks Brian

Nope- just take off the little cover that's on yours, and bolt it on. Probably want to use new O-rings when mounting. Be sure to get the hoses, outlets and mounting bracket for the outlets.

Nice find- those are hard to come by, and will add value to your tractor. Make sure the handle works smoothly, and returns to center. If not, just take it apart and clean up the spools, and it should be fine. Its very straightforward inside, and nothing springs out at you. Again, new O rings are probably in order. They get stiff with age.

Now just find a power steering setup and a swinging drawbar, and you've got a "fully outfitted" S55.

There are 2 ports on the bottom for pipe threads. One hose goes in each port. The valve is sealed to the hydraulic unit by O-rings.

There is a little more involved than that if your tractor is prior to serial number 23 131-500. You need the stand pipe to increase the capacity of the hydraulic oil, you need to relocate the breather to the top of the transmission cover, and block off the old breather location. The stand pipe has a gasket at each end, male threads to screw into the transmission top and threaded on the other end to receive the dipstick. There are two fittings and two tubes that pick up and return the fluid. Check your serial number and if you need them, make sure you get those from the parts tractor too. If you need to do the field conversion, let me know and I can email you the instructions out of the manual.
