oliver 550 questions

went to look at a 1961 550 gas today, few concerns that i have is the pto dosen"t stop, lever dosen"t snap in on or off position. also the 3pt drifts down even when tractor is running.It has a counter weight attatched on 3pt. how easy are these to fix? what else should i look for as possible issues?

Sounds to me like your PTO clutch needs to be adjusted. That may or may not solve the problem. If it has been run that way too long you will need to rebuild the PTO clutch. On the 3-point you have an internal leak. The top will need to come off and tests made to see which O-rings leak. Neither job is very bad.

550 is a great tractor. I fixed both of those issues on my tractor when I bought mine. Read attached link, Arctice can be found on the left side of this site under Research and Info, Articles, Maintenance and Mechanicle. Good Luck.
