rebuild 880 diesel

we ran the 880 and no fix, so I am rebuilding it and I need to know how many rings there are in a six cylinder set and the compression on the oil and main rings.

Well first of all tear it down and measure everything up. Then check the specifications to see if your parts are serviceable. My guess is a good set of sleeves and pistons would be money better spent than a ring set. You probably have excessive wear in the top ring groove on the piston.

Not a mind reader, but looked up your previous thread. Ether for starting likely says it all. As JS says measure everything before deciding. I reckon you will find top rings are shot, likely the ring grooves in need of renovation and furthermore, possibly not the size of piston/liner you might expect to find.

Don't know what you mean by 'compression on the oil and main rings'.

As Duane says, you need a workshop manual. I am thinking you will need more than that.
