354 Perkins

Which Massey combine? A 510 and 750 will if you have your old engine for all the parts you need that aren't the same. A 550 Massey, the jury is still out.

You'll probably be OK. I'm just not sure about the front of the crank on an engine out of a 550. Doesn't mean that it won't work for sure,I just don't know.

Uncle put one in a 1850 out of a Massey combine, had to change manifolds, for sure, and maybe the oil pan can't remember.but it worked.

I swapped one out of an 8700 White. You pretty much have to swap everything but the head.
You have to change the pan, front cover, water pump, one side cover, tappet cover, manifold, oil filter base and cooler lines, oil pump plumbing, injector lines, linkages on the injector pump............

The one we did, we didn't switch near that much out. Think my uncle is gonna turbo charge it this summer to.

While we're on this topic, I swapped one over during Christmas, and when dad finally had a chance to start it the other day, we don't seem to be getting oil to the front crank bearings, back ones are oiling fine. Massey motor was pristine top and bottom, so I'm assuming I missed something when I swapped all the Oliver pieces over. Had to knock out the oil plug to switch the cooler over, so I know that's not it, but we can't seem to figure out what I screwed up. Any ideas?

If the 1850 is a diesel, yes. You will need about all of the external engine parts off of the Oliver to put on the Massey block. If the 1850 is a gas, then you will need the front tub off of a 1850 diesel and lots of motor parts. Been there, done that, still running 10 years later. Chris

Did you change the tube inside the engine that runs from the oil pump? It had to take the oil over to the other side to where you relocated the filter base. That's the only thing I know of on the inside.

No, I didn't. Is that something that can be done with the pan off? Honestly, I assumed that the oil passageways in the block were common since the other side had a plug that I had to remove.

Ya,you can do it with the pan off. Getting the pan off is another thing. Not a lot of room up front between the pan and frame. Best to use a 3/8ths drive shallow socket and a swivel ratchet.
