My Oliver 880 is blowing oil out of the breather and I don't now what to do about it, It is getting on my nerves :( please some help?

Its a diesel and blows not a lot but a good bit.
I pulled the dip stick out and its in working range, could my oil line to my rocker arms be loose?

I don't know, will it stop eventually? or there is a leak in the oil line from the head to the rocker arms? does oil run freely in the valve cover? its the only thing keeping me from using the tractor.

None of us have seen the tractor while it is running. Why don't you take the valve cover off and look to see if the line is the problem? Then start it up and watch it. How does it start when the tractor is cold?

Oil to the rockers is metered.

Blowing means gas - otherwise it would be 'pumping'.

As I see it there is crankcase pressure being produced from somehwere. That somewhere is limited to compression in the head, there being no other source that can cause it.

You either have gases escaping past the head gasket or past a(the) piston(s). I would suspect that the tractor does not start too well when cold, has been 'ethered' and the top rings are broken. May be a crack in the head, but far less likely.

That is my guess. I'm afraid it will continue to get on your neves unless you actually do something. A bit of a 'catch 22' situation?

I took the valve cover off. and the oil line is tight so I'm puzzled. so do you guys think if I plow with it and it will reset the ring? what do you guys think.
