I have a oliver 88 diesel that I am trying to inframe. I have pulled the sleeves and there is cracks where the thin parts of the water jackets are in between each cylinders. Did Oliver have problems with this. Can I just re sleeve and continue with the inframe or do I need to find a new block and start from scratch

Oliver didn't have problems with the block splitting, the former operator did.  At some time in it's life it has had inadequate anitfreeze protection and has frozen.  Think about all the surface on the sides of the block, and when it freezes and pushes against the sides.  It just splits the casting between the sleeve bore.
This will happen to any brand's inline engine that has inadequate freeze protection.

First of all are the cracks at the top of the block or at the bottom of the block where the lower counter bores are? If at the bottom you will need a different block, if they are just at the top they are sealed by the head gasket. Are there cracks between each one? A few more details or a picture would help. When you get the head rebuilt make sure you get a set of valve seats installed and the valves set to the correct recession. It makes the tractor run smoother and start much better.

welcome to the club. we took apart three different 88 diesel blocks before we went to an early 88 gas block and converted it to diesel. also two of them had the same cracks as what you have. i don't think it was a factory problem just neglect from the buyers.
