needle float valve

Where can I get a good needle float valve for a 77 Oliver that has a carter carb on it? I have put a new one in it that has the rubber on the tip but it will not shut off the fuel when you stop tractor. does anyone still make a full brass set anymore? Thanks

Surely must be something else wrong. I have the viton tip on mine for years and it never leaks. Hope you get it figured out.

Did you have the seat for the needle out?  Two things that can happen in that area, The gasket between the seat and housing can leak and I have seen the area where the gasket sits in the air horn housing be eaten away and have pits that the gasket can't seal.  I worked with a guy that made a small cleaning tool for that area.

we worked on a carburetor that did that and we made a jig that we hooked up just the top half of the carburetor and then we worked the float. We found that the hole in the seat was too large and the float did not push the needle on the seat completely.

Current gas is less dense, and if your float is a little heavy due to repairs or green gunk stuck to it, it may not be traveling far enought to seat valve. Try lowering the float in the bowl. I"ve done this a few times and fixed the problem.
