Anyone here have experience with the white 6100 planters that can also give a comparison to say... JD 7200 finger or vac and/or the IH 900s? Looking to replace my old 4r 7000 with something newer/better. I"m doing no-till and planning to do corn and beans with the planter. Looking for info/comparison on depth control and planting accuracy as well as reliability and amount of regular maintenance required.

We bought one new in "96 with the 6900 splitter for beans. You cannot beat White"s seed meter for simplicity and accuracy. Depth control not an issue either. Work well in no-till, with heavy down pressure springs and cast closing wheels.

When looking at it, check to see how much the closing arm holes are worn. If you can move the closing unit side to side, the arms will have to be replaced. You can now easily update them to the current design.

Also remove seed disk and check tickler and air cutoff brushes.

Check bushing wear on row unit parallel arms, and of course check bearings on openers ect.

Overall, very dependable and accurate planter. I assume you either have closed center hyd"s with a case drain, or will run a PTO pump to power the orbit motor?

well we have a 5100 and are upgrading to a 6122 this year and our family has used the 5100 since 1986 so they are very reliable and pretty easy to take care of.

My tractor has open center. Would a pto pump be required to run the 6100 because of that?
