oliver super 55 motor in a 60

i have read that a super 55 motor is a near direct bolt in to a 60, has anyone on here actually done this as mine needs a near complete overhaul and theres a spare motor for sale locally fairly cheap. I also wondered what prevents using 55/66 sleeves/pistons in the 60 block, and even though the 55/66 is a slight longer stroke, will the cranks/rods enterchange

The Super 55 motor is longer so the crank will not bolt up. I never measured a 60 block but we have one in the shop now if you need some dimensions. You would need to have the counterbores in the block cut to accept the super 55 sleeves if there is room. How much would it cost you to have the crank welded and stroked?

I really don't care to stroke it I just figured it would allow the use of the entire 55 rotating assy. What's the size difference in early 66 sleeves?

I measured my 66 motor as i was looking to possibly put in my 60. Not even close to a "near direct bolt in" longer and wider. You would have to redo all motor mounts. Not to mention the radiator would probably have to move forward and the X shape in the frame would not allow your bell housing to sit where you would want it to without modification of some sort.

I was told a 66 motor would bolt in when I restored my 60, but it looks like that may not be. You'd for sure have to cut a new hole in the hood for the exhaust.
Maibach Tractor in Ohio will have everything you need to go through a 60 motor.
