Oliver 727 Wagon

Just purchased an Oliver 727 wagon. The box is in very good shape and the floor is decent. How does one go about shining up the galvanized steel box and removing what is left of the old decals? Need to replace those.

Cannot tell what type of gear is under it. Do not believe it is an original. The tongue is more modern.

are you decals painted on or stickers? I have 2 727 boxes and the decals are painted on my plans are to get the correct size decal and just place it exactly over the top of the old, but mine are so faded that you can barely see. If they are actual stickers get an eraser wheel to put on a drill but I'd try it inside the box first to see what it does to the galvanized finish.

I restored a 727 box with a oliver-electric 530 running gear a couple years ago. Called dumonts for new decals. I think the ones on there were painted but faded real bad so i put the new ones right over them. I took all the steel off and painted it red. The galvanized I cleaned with hot soapy water and a wore out 3m scotchbrite pad. took a while but it was pretty clean when done.
