how to lose weight on my oliver 88

Can you run pressed steel wheels? If you can you won"t have any problem making 4500. Also if you have an early 88 with band brakes they are less weight than the later disc brakes. 66 front end, no hyd, remove pto.

Get rid of the PTO, Hydralics or lift mechanism, put on a 66 narrow front with pressed steel wheels all of the way around, get rid of fuel tank and replace with 2-3 gallon aluminum tank, get rid of fenders. just a few things I can think

Don't have an 88 but I dropped 25 pounds off of me to make my super 55 diesel easier to get in 3500.
It also made it a lot easier to get my 66 in 3000.
This way I can use weights where they work best.

Mine weighs 3850 bare, with 16.9s... Light hitch, weight brackets, lightened pressed steel, early 66 pedestal,66 fenders, light seat, no belt pulley,no hyd. Cut one u bolt off hubs slid all the way in and cut axle, still have stock sheet metal and side curtains... Trying to get one wittled down to run 3500 with my son on it.... Oh ya mine is a 51 w/ band brakes

so an narrow front out of a 66 oliver will fit under
a oliver 88 is there any thing you half to do to
make it fit? or does it just bolt on

Oliver 1, if you want to get down to make the 4500lb. class you don't need the 66 narrow front. just remove the hydraulics or mechanical lift, the pto, and the cast wheels and your in with room for weights. Chuck

You don't need the 66 front end to make 4500 with an 88, especially if it's a gas. We have an 1952 88 diesel that will make 4500 with no PTO, stock hitch, hydraulics intact, no belt pulley but pressed steel front and rear with 16.9-38 tires.

Years ago there was an 88 on the farm that was a full time puller (gas) that weighed 4150 empty with no driver. 20x38 rear steel with 18.4-38s, 66 front end, 14 inch tires, no hyd., PTO or belt pulley. Wheel weight brackets, front bracket (heavy) and wheelie bars with pulling hitch. It also had full wiring and fenders, but the seat was just a post with the pan seat welded to a bent band of steel for suspension. It could've lost another 100 without the pipe brackets on the wheels and more without that bulky bracket on the front.
