| I just may do thathere soon . Last Friday My buddy and i took a little road trip to the local truck junk yard and we went and looked at some 8.3's . They had a bunch setting on pallets , just pick you favort color and Hp. ratings . Do you want a truck engine or ind. engine. do you want ft. sump middle sump or rear sump. as they had them all chose your bell housing type 2-3 what ever ya needed. Well they had a yellow one with a type 2 and rear sump set at 207 Hp. with the correct gov. for ind application as for flywheel it was set up for a T/C . So now all we needed was a flywheel and one phone call solved that and here in a bit we are headed out to take the drive to get it . The next thing will be the mounts and they should not be much a problem . BUT we have not droped it down in yet so or fun my be ahead . Now what i did take notice of it the PANS as there are several rear sump pans as the one on this engine my work but if we run into the problem of clearance with the Ft. Drive axle then a pan off a FORD truck might be the answer as it is flatter across the bottom then it drops down into the rear sump. I did call one guy that does Cummins swaps and he was vary arrogant and told me that he would do the job for 22000 bucks for us but would not tell me nothing. Thats fine with me as i can stumble my thru this one if i have to as this engine swap may be my first one on and Oliver and with a Cummins but not the first engine swap in my life time. This one is getting to be FUN . |
