Thinking of buying an Oliver 60
Tires are shot, not running, side shields missing, radiator looks OK, but.don't know
engine turns by hand What is it worth?

Any suggestions on this, would be very appreciated.
Thanks, Jim

Bought an 88 ran alright, a nice looking tractor, side curtains good, nice paint , cost $1800, not a bad price.

Let it set, motor stuck, tore it down, it all went down hill form there. Found a crack in the block--$600, crank could not be turned--$250 for crank, had to get new pistons and rings--$375, head had to be re-worked with new seats--$250, gasket set, 1 rod, rod bearings, throw out bearing, and valves along with other things I can't remember how much they cost. Also cost $600 for mechanic to do the labor which was more than reasonable. As it has been suggested, may be a lot better off financially to find a good one to begin with.

Everyone is going to look at this from a different perspective. If you are really interested in this unit you are undoubtly going to invest a ton of monies in fixing it up even to just run or get around. ( You don't know why it was parked in the first place.) Let alone if you invest in new tires , side panels and a paint job. If it is something you'd like to do it would potentially keep you out of other kinds of troubles. Is it worth the investment, only you can decide. If it were halfway close to me I would consider looking at it to keep it out of scrap yard but again a matter of perspective.

What it is worth depends on how bad you want a lawn ornament or how bad a person wants to sell.
If its as you describe maybe $100.00 that is what it will bring as scrape iron.
