OLarry from MD 02-01-2013 07:46:03 97.73.64.152 Report to Moderator	Re: pullen sleeves on a 1655d in reply to luapp, 01-31-2013 18:51:05   I have a heavyduty sleeve puller my father got years ago and its so big that getting the thick washer and nut under the sleeve on a 1655 with the crank in is hard.The bolt and nuts are about 1 inch and they pull them easy after you get it in.Struggleing by myself last year on the 2-70 while i needed a heart bypass i allmost started banging them out.Figured i couldn't swing a hammer either so used the puller. Improvisation is the father of invention. Some times after you have a good pull on the sleeve and it doesn't want to break free a hammer and bar and a rap from the bottem might help. Good luck. For wet sleeve motors my basic puller is a piece of 3/4 all thread. Those sleeves stick out the bottom so all you need is a plate a little bigger. For the top you need something to span the top of the block to pull from and it needs to be held up some for the sleeve to rise. I use a couple of broken pieces of anhydrous shank. The piece I use to span the block came off a 2388 and was what the shaker are pivoted off of. I"ve pulled 3306 sleeves with this with a different bottom piece. I will admit it wouldn"t pull the sleeves out of the 80 I am helping on but that was a whole different case. If I need something tougher I will build it. But unless yours are corroded like that 80 I think it will pull it. RT (My 2 cents)(it"s cheap and works) [Reply]  [No Email]
