Dad has a White 2-85 FWA, built in 1979 I believe. He is thinking of selling it but just curious how good of tractors are these? I don't know how many hours, it has a loader, but no cab and the rear tires are almost junk. I remember disking with it and it worked good with the over/direct/under on the trans and with the FWA locked in really pulled a 14' IH 37 disc.

When I was looking for a larger tractor for haying three years ago, I asked about a 2-85. I do not regret purchasing mine. I only have 2WD and have since added a loader. Now I have to admit that I haven't done much field work with it yet. Only hay and it pulls my balers and haybines really nice and I love the over under for changing hay conditions. Makes for a nice bale since you can keep the feed consistent.
My father in law did use it to pull my 3241 3-14 plow and a 6' disk but I can't say how that was much of a test :)

Not really. It was an 1855 transmission and rear end. They just went back to the 354 Perkins like the 1850 had.
