You are going to find there are at least 3 different Oliver part numbers for the Super 77 head and I think 2 for the 770 head.I don't have a parts book here. Let me guess you are looking to mofify one to go pull with. What do you have in mind?

a 4x4.125 (310 inch) 77 to pull with, been told it is easier to buy the later head than make a 77 head flow, but I am wondering if a head is going to cost alot then I might as well spend the dollars putting in bigger valves and some port work on my head, I guess some put 880 valves into them

You could take either head and if your machine shop has a "bowl cutter" for his seat and guide machine it can be done faily easy. Also 550valves are larger than the valves in a Super/770 heads. They were Fleetline exhaust valves to start with. You need to do some measuring.
