Wondering if you can remove the front cover from a 3 gear engine so can replace cam gear with out taking engine out? Any one been there? Cam gear on my nice 70 has chunks out of it from the governor gear and causing a knock, thanks mike

I don't think so Mike. There is a stud or bolt that stticks out of the cover and down about 2" or more and goes into the motor mount. So You would have to lift it enough to get that stud out.

We had the cam out of mine and I know this will help but we already had the motor out... I dont see why you couldnt pull the radiator off and pull the cam out though. My cam bushings had big grooves in them. Never again will I replace those. PITA. On the other hand its only 2 bolts and 2 pins and the motor is out.
