I am looking at a 70 row crop hasn't run for a long time,mostly complete.seller is asking $950, probably stuck. What's a fair price?

If the tin, paint and tires are not much to talk about, then a little above scrap price. If those three are in good shape, then he is close.

350.00 they are a hard tractor to sell becouse there is so many of them. puller don't like them because they are so heavy

Hey Old weldor,
I have mostly antique Deeres but grew up working with a 70, so I thought I'd try getting one. I paid $500 for a 70 here in CT. Spent a fair amount doing rings, tune up, wiring, generator, front wheels and tires and some sheet metal. Ended with over $2,500 in her. recently decided I really needed the money so I tried to sell the 70. I didn't get any bits at $2,500 and really no interest even at $2,000. I'd be careful about spending $950 on a tractor in that shape. Good Luck!

I gave $250 for my 1939. I put a battery in it,cleaned the carb and started it. Drove it off the trailer.

i bought one at auction to restore gave 350.00 never did get it restored sold couple years later as it still was for 500.00 sounds high to me

You might check the rear tire size, condition and tire replacement cost before you make an offer. One of the older Oliver tractors may have used hard to find 40 inch tires instead of the more common 38 and 36 inch tires.

I've got about 2500 in my old '47. Bought it for 15 and probably put another grand in it to make it right. That"s probably a lot of $$ for what basically amounts to a toy, but I keep it in the shop and start it up every month or so. She fires up and purrs at the touch of the starter--just like a horse beggin' to go for a ride.
My grand kid comes to see me 3, maybe 4 times a year from California, it"s worth it just to take him for a ride...slim

$950 is only the starting point. He will only come down (hopefully). Everything that is wrong with it (like a stuck engine) is a down-side.

As the others, find out the basic scrap price and negotiate a price, somewhere between those two figures, that is acceptable to both parties.
