1865 LP Progress Pics

Here are some pics of the 1865 in the paint booth, only thing missing was Santa. Spent most of today trying to scrounge up missing pieces to finish putting it back together. With any luck it should be back under its own power in a couple of weeks.

Metal grating like you would see in a farrowing house or used for flooring on a power plant. There is a water bath under the grating which collects the overspray, keeps everything from getting sticky with overspray.

Mitch, that tractor is going to look awesome. Is that your paint booth or does it belong to a body shop? I really like the way that is set up. Beautiful! I can"t paint anymore for health reasons but if I were able to and wanted to do any amount of it I would have a set up similar to that. I did too much work in poorly lit sheds with too little protection.

It belongs to a neighbor. Dad poured the concrete under the paint booth for him, and he's going to paint a couple of dads tractors in return. The neighbor is a mechanic now, but was a professional body man, and now he's building a shop to do that work on the side. Its a pretty nice setup, has all the proper equipment, no breathing paint fumes in there. Amazing what a difference it makes when you're not trying to do that on a dark dirty shop floor.

WOW, looking great. Will be a while before I get my 1865 to that point. If I remember correctly didn't your tractor have yellow under the red and a bunch of odd decals? How are you going to decal it when your finished?

He's painting it Cockshutt red because that's the way it spent it's entire life, here's a pic of how it looked before he started on it. It may have been born a MM, but it spent its life a Cockshutt red Oliver 1865, so he didn't see any need in fixing something that wasn't broke.

As for decals, he's going back with Oliver 1865 arrow's and Oliver keystone's, but is putting MM stickers in all the appropriate mechanical places.

Very nice. Is it possible that your tractor came from Canada and was built to fill an order from a Cockshutt dealer?

Also I see in your pictures the hyd hose you have from the pump the the valvebody. Is the hardline bad? Its supposed to connect to the hardline right there by the frame.

That poor tractor had an identity crisis all its life! White, Oliver and MM950 decals.
Almost one of the elusive tri directional tractors they speak of here.

The hardline was bad, he found another one, but they've also brazed the old one, so not sure what he'll end up doing. I understand why they ran the rubber hose when the hardline rubbed a hole in itself. Had to disassemble most of the tractor to get to that hardline.
