ok so new filter, good fuel flow to pump, return line not plugged. removed inlet to pump to check screen, clean. Plunger(item 114 small rubber mushroom) is worn on one side and bent. What does it do and where can I get a new one??? If that is the problem.

I would make sure fuel is coming out of the pump and remove the fuel return check valve from the pump. Is where I would start as far as your bent plunger if its not available at agco your local diesel shop can get Rosa master parts

First of all it is probably close to 40 years since I have had a Roosa Master apart, but that is your transfer pump regulator piston. First question: Did you check transfer pump pressure? How does it start? Does it have a lot of hours on it? Do you have the little plastic window to check the advance?

Try running engine with pump timing cover loose so fuel can leak out of housing. If it will accelerate ok then pump needs serviced as weight retainer ring is failing, small bits are plugging return fitting causing high housing pressure. This will cause the trouble you have, or even die, then restart after awhile then die again.

Called diesel shop and told them what I had, I had checked every thing everybody suggested. They told me the rubber plungers were NLA. Sold me a reman for $700. Old one had 7000 hrs on it so I guess it was time. took the old one off and put the new one on out side yesterday in 20 degree and snow and wind. Fired it at 600pm and it runs like new. Put the snow blower on and worked it for an hour.runs better than it has in years. tfth
