Difference in 1650 vs. 1655

I've been looking at 1650/55's a bit and I've noticed that they really look like the same tractor. I'm familiar with the upgrades that the larger 55 series tractors have, but I've never been around the smaller ones. If you took a late 1650 with O/U and put it next to a 55 model, would you have basically the same tractor? Thanks.

Yes there basically the same, there's slight differences like the 55 series had headlights in the grill and so on. But Basically the same tractor though. And they Both had the same motor

Like was said, lights and grille are different. 55 series dash is a little different. And the horsepower is increased a little over the 1650. Same engine. Sides of the hood flare out a little on the 1655, 1650 is more straight down.

There were also a few updates in the transmission. The lube pump went from being driven off the countershaft to being run off the PTO drive shaft for continuous lube flow. And I also think at sometime in the 55 series they changed the tooth profile of the bull and pinion final drive gears.

Don't forget that the early diesel 1650's built before the summer of 1967 have the Lanova engines with the fuel cells. Later tractors have the direct injection engines like the 1655's with more horsepower and better fuel economy.
