Input shaft

Have to replace the input shaft on my S88. Pulled out the old one last night and compared it to the other (good) one that I have. My good one is like 1/4 inch longer than the old one. Is this out of an 880 or something? can I use it in my S88? It will not be running a belt pulley. I have pics of the 2 if anyone wants to see them side by side.

schim isn't there a coupler between that shaft and the tranny shaft or I'm I way off base and thinking of a differfnt part? Rocko.

Yes there is but I"m replacing the shaft that goes into the tranny. Maybe I could just cut off a quarter inch off the back side that sticks in the tranny side? If its an issue that is...

Why not show the picture and lay them so the shafts are even across the front. We used to saw a lot of those shafts off if they had a power lift and I am sure there was a litt lvariation in the length.
