Oliver 77 Transmission Input Shaft Removal

I am able to drive it forward but the length of the shaft keeps me from removing it due to it hitting the clutch housing. Is it feasable to drive the front bearing out to get the versatility to remove the shaft and drive it back in for use with the new shaft? Or is there something else I"m missing? Sorry, this is my first experience in the transmission and I don"t want to mess it up.

The front bearing stays on the shaft, the rear bearing stays in the transmission case. Hold it in place with the Cresent wrench. As soon as the shaft clears the rear bearing and the front bearing is out of the case you tilt the shaft to the side and slide it forward. If you have questions answer with a phone number.

Ok I'm back at it again. My front bearing will not move, the shaft just drives on through it. I tried driving it back to get a lock ring in the slot and drive the bearing out with the lock ring on, however, I haven't figured a way to get the lock ring on in the middle of the shaft. 316-249-5855. Thanks
