I need to change the pinion gear in my 30. What is the best way to do this? Looks like I have to pull the left axel and bull gear to get to it.

I was reading through my manual about the procedure and I would agree with your assesment. I assune you have a manual. Do you have a parts book? I find this very helpfull also and have it on my computer as well as a printed copy. If you need one I can probably help you down lode one. Looks like a big job from what I can tell and difficult to explain as outlined in manual. Even difficult to understand from reading it. I have not acually done this job and for me things are much easier to understand when I'm actually looking at it and in the process. Whats wrong with it that it needs to be replaced and do you already have a replacement part because that could be a problem also. Good luck anyway and keep us posted. I'm intrested in following your progress. Rocko.

Rocko

I was tractor pulling with it and broke 12 teeth off the pinion gear. I don't have any books for a 30. I have a spare parts tractor and might be easier to swap the rearends out?

Hello smokeshow. I'm guessing from what you told me that you removed the complete LPTO from the back and inspected it from there. Yes I think that the swap may be easier depending on if your parts tractor tranny, diff etc. is all in working order and where you plan to split it. Do both tractors have the creeper gear?? If you're going to try and change the pinion out I really think a manual would be a good idea. Probabley a good idea either way. I have a copy of an old original I got off ebay and it goes into quite a bit of detail on this subject. Parts book I could probably Email you if your intrested. Hope this helps you. Rocko.
