Oliver 1355

I wonder what a 1355 is worth. This one had the motor rebuilt but they didn't grind the crankshaft. It runs good but the oil pressure is poor. It does not have the external oil pump. The sheetmetal is good with a factory cab but the tires are poor. I would just play with it and not use it hard.
 
Are we talking a G-1355 or the smaller 1355. There was an auction in PA this summer that saw the G-1355 with Moline engines go for about 5K. I have a White 2270 and a Moline G-1355. Always looking for a green one.
 
4500-6500 hard to say with no pictures or not looking at it but if it runs, you could put the external pump on it, take one off a 2-150 probebly be 1000 to 1500, but if you would just play with it, might be fine with the internal. There pretty hard to find. If it's pretty nice and you want one just buy it.
 
Way it sounds, a g1355 because he talked about not having the external pump, and a factory cab, don't think the little ones had a cab, that's the way I took it anyway. Could be wrong
 
If you don't work it hard it should be fine, lot of people say the external oil pumps make them pretty reliable, epically if you don't turn them up. It would be a good tractor, the rear end is bullet proof I think
 
One sold at aumman auction 3 yrs ago for 11.5K. Was fully restored, repainted green, looked new. MM engine.Collectable market is down some since then.There were just a few hundred made, some estimates 500-600. How many are left still running or even left at all.
 
Was there only around 500 to 600 made, or was that just how many green ones there were or are you talking the green, yellow and the red 2270 made, I know there hard to find but figured there was more made then that, maybe not

My buddy has an A4T-1600 same as a 2655 with the 585 engine. He told me you can add or take away some shims the oil pump relief to change your oil pressure. May be worth looking into.
 
Funny isn't it? Aren't those things the same as a 2-150 White? Speaking personally,I think those G1355 Olivers are one of the toughest looking Olivers ever. I'd like to have one just to look at every day. Yet I've got no interest in a 2-150 at all. Given that the G1355 seems to sell higher,I must not be the only one to feel this way. What a difference some sheet metal makes.
 
If you want to use it don't buy it.The external oil pump causes just as many problems as it fixes and you still have the dropping valves to fix as well.
 
I couldnt agree more to that. I would never have any interest in a 2-150, yet a G1355 sounds like a tractor that would be a lot of fun to own.
 
I love all the people that run scared from these tractors. I have my Oliver G1355 and i absolutely love it for using in the field plowing, disking, etc. I wouldnt be afraid to hook it to anything. When the time is taken and the engine is re-done correctly, they are a heck of an engine. I have never heard of an external pump causing more issues than what its worth, not sure where that comes from? The same poster talked about dropping valves, care to elaborate? I have heard something about this but not sure of the cause. Have never heard of one doing that around Central Illinois. Just alot of horror stories about scored cylinders/pistons from bad numbers when assembling. I know of a few other green G1355's around here but not sure if any are for sale.
 
Well the external pump has to suck the oil all the way up to it and the preasure relief valve in the pump just bypasses the oil to the sucktion side so if that valve sticks open a hair you loose prime and all oil preasure.The pump and valve run in unfiltered oil and sticking is a real problem.You can add a checkvalve so the oil wont run back into the sump,but they can stick as well.All of the above have happened to me.My engine has never had a turbo but has broken valves several times.The new 2-150 valves seem to stop that problem.I thought i had a good engine too untill things went downhill.
