Hi guys. I've been tearing down a 30. cleaning and stripping prepping for paint, replacing seals here and there etc. Anyways I remove the V shaped sabalizer bar From the wide front end to a bracket bolted under the tranny, jacked up the front end with a wide floor jack which lifted both tires up, removed tires, set tub down on suports, pulled jack back. Figured at this point to take a look and figure how to go about removing pin that front end pivots on. Wigled front end a bit and it slid right off the pin. In other words the only thing holding the front end on that pin was the V shaped stabilizer bar, I was under the impresion from the parts book that the pin would be some kind of step or shoulder type and I would need to pound it out to remove the front end. Anyways I guess my question is is this normal or did this pin wear down or something, (Does not appear to have), but doesn't seem right that the pin does not have a head or shoulder to hold the front end on. Any insight here would be appreciated. Thanks in advance. Rocko.

I'm not sure about the 30 but I know the 40 and 50 have nothing on the end of the pivot pin. Its just the stabilizer that holds the axle on the pin. Never had an axle fall off yet. :)
